Our Story
The Lighthouse Knitting Guild of Maine was founded in 2015 when several friends who were coworkers wanted to meet more regularly outside of work to share their love of knitting. Wanting to involve others, they created the guild and joined The Knitting Guild Association (TKGA). Membership in this national organization allowed them to leverage resources to expand the original group. Word began to spread and the group now consists of roughly 45 members.
With monthly meetings in Windham, ME, members gather to enhance the artisanship of knitting, warmly support each other, and provide education. At the guild, there's always someone available to help you learn and improve. The guild has sponsored guest instructors and designers to offer educational sessions for its members.

Lighthouse Knitting Guild of Maine at a Glance
The guild also seeks to give back to the broader community through charitable knitting efforts. Over the years members have knit hats, scarves and mittens for Winter Olympics Maine as well as shawls for hospice organizations. The guild has knit hundreds of rectangles for the Warm Up America program to be assembled into blankets for the homeless and other populations in need. Most recently, hats and winter accessories were donated along with diapers to the Adoptive and Foster Families Inc and the Kinship Program which helps vulnerable children in Maine.
If you are looking to meet other knitters and gather to improve your craft while sharing and caring for our community, please consider joining the Lighthouse Knitting Guild of Maine. There is lovely camaraderie and connection with knitters of all ages.
